Good 😋
🗓 Last visited in April 2026

If you have been following Hanoi’s food scene, you probably noticed earlier this year a wave of new places serving wine in casual settings, from bistros to plastic chairs on the pavement.
Locals started calling it “vang vỉa”, but stricter enforcement of sidewalk occupancy rules has already put an end to many of them.
Among many forgettable names, BLANK., together with Samé and Vin Hoi, is one of the few that managed to build a real identity and stand out from the trend.
We first visited the place at the beginning of the year and came back around three months later after a strong first impression.

Food and wine
The food is one of BLANK.’s main strengths. We did not go in with particularly high expectations, but it quickly felt more professional and more creative than what you usually get in Hanoi wine bars.
BLANK. is not just another place serving a few basic snacks with low quality cheese and cold cuts. We have now tried a good portion of the menu, and almost nothing disappointed.
The kitchen hits the sweet spot by taking dishes that could easily fall into comfort food territory and giving them just enough originality and polish to make them feel worth the money. Sometimes the twist is small, but it is enough to make the dish stand out.
The wine list also seems to have been put together with real care, with several good options even if you are only ordering by the glass.
On our first visit in particular, Huong was served a natural white wine that we both really enjoyed. That says something, because we are usually quite skeptical of natural wine. I also have a good memory of a South African red blend, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, that really hit the mark for me.
Location and atmosphere
BLANK. is very centrally located in the Old Quarter, which will naturally attract some tourists. That said, the crowd felt great on both of our visits, with a lively mix of locals and expats.
The large open kitchen does a lot for the atmosphere, and the back room features a big table that works especially well for groups. The place was busy both times we went, which clearly added to the overall energy. Just remember to book in advance.
Place has now also set up a set of strict rules targeting influencers who take too much space when filming or photographing without consuming much.
Price
We spent roughly 600k to 700k per person at BLANK., and we did notice some price increases between our two visits. Obviously, you do not come to a place like this looking for the absolute best value for money. That said, nothing on the menu made us feel overcharged.
Final thoughts
Hanoi is not an easy city for food and beverage businesses, especially in the middle and upper middle segment. That is why a place like BLANK., while not necessarily rare in cities like Saigon or Bangkok, still stands out in Hanoi.
That is also why we will likely keep coming back and supporting it. The place feels serious, thoughtful, and built for the long run. More importantly, it fills a real gap in the city.
