Well-known seafood spot (Michelin Bib Gourmand), walkable from My Khe. Fresh, well-prepared and flavorful, and open 24/7. Rice dishes at lunch, seafood in the evening, which is rare here. Gets very crowded at peak (food can be slow) and pricier than places further from the beach; come early or call ahead for groups.

A long-standing local favorite (Michelin Selected), out near the Son Tra Peninsula. Big fresh selection and noticeably cheaper than central spots. The very spicy raw herring salad and the gỏi cá lạc (raw) are specialities. The huge space is a very Vietnamese experience. Deep in a car-free alley (free golf-cart pickup from Nguyễn Phan Vinh), hot in summer, busy in peak season.

The former Mỹ Hạnh (est. 1990), now relocated under new ownership. It's a solid, slightly more upscale seafood choice in the My Khe area. Central, attentive service, quick dishes, adjustable portions; good for hosting. Pricier than the casual, out-of-centre spots.

A locally-recommended bún bò on Đống Đa (since 1988); Da Nang-style: bigger bowl, thinner noodles, less spicy than Huế. We came late (~7:30) and the best cuts were gone and the broth a bit oily; go earlier in the day. 40–75k, open 2–9:30pm. We'll give it another shot.

A locally-recommended bún chả cá (Central-Vietnam fish-cake noodle soup) that satisfied. The broth leans sweet, so adjust with the table condiments.

Our pick for bún mắm: Da Nang's dry noodle dish with pungent mắm nêm. Located not far from My Khe. The bún mắm is great, and the bánh tráng đập and bánh ướt are worth adding. Friendly owners and surprisingly cheap: lots of dishes for two came to just 80k.

A real hidden gem for cao lầu which is hard to find done properly outside Hội An. Run by a welcoming elderly couple; the lady is from Hội An and has fresh cao lầu noodles delivered daily, so they have that signature chewy, springy texture. One of our favorite noodle dishes in Vietnam.

The market to visit for food lovers, with an overwhelming choice of savory and sweet dishes. Bánh tráng cuốn thịt heo Bi Mỹ (pork belly wrapped in rice paper) is one of its most famous stalls. Also a good place to buy Central Vietnam specialties: dried fish, dried squid, mắm nêm or tré.

A modest, well-liked spot in the My Khe area for Hội An-style chicken rice. Both the shredded and the roti chicken rice were flavorful and nicely seasoned.

A cozy Huế-specialties spot in a small central alley we really liked. The star is bánh khoái (crispy pancake rolled with herbs and rich peanut sauce), with an unusually wide topping range; the tré trộn (spicy Bình Định specialty) is a must, and the silky bánh ướt is excellent.

A small, simple mỳ Quảng spot in a narrow alley near My Khe. The thập cẩm (mixed) bowl has fresh shrimp, jellyfish and snakehead fish with lots of herbs, and a generous, soupier broth. 35–50k a bowl, friendly service.

Our first vegetarian mỳ Quảng. We loved it! Just 25k for a big, generous bowl; add the table condiments if you want more punch. A friendly family-run place, full of locals.

Upscale mỳ Quảng from Tuyết Phạm (MasterChef Vietnam 2015 runner-up), Michelin Selected. At ~110k it's pricey for the dish (mostly international diners), but the food is tasty and beautifully done, the fried spring rolls excellent, and Tuyết's hands-on hospitality makes it special. Chicken/snakehead/beef/veg versions. 9am–4pm, closed Sundays.

A small, casual spot the Italian community loves, serving Sardinian specialties (try the Fregula Vongole Bottarga: pasta pearls with clams and bottarga). Food is good, but mains were slow on the day of our visit.

Authentic, unpretentious Italian from chef Luca, reopened after Tet 2025. It's the kind of place Da Nang's Italians point you to. Short menu of antipasti, handmade pasta and a few mains, fresh quality ingredients, very reasonable (~under 700k for two, ex-alcohol). Bruschetta is a must. We'll be back.

A must for French-cuisine lovers, and it genuinely impressed us. Chef Olivier Corti (from Lyon) runs a monthly-changing menu with creative twists and an excellent wine list from his Italian sommelier. Michelin Selected. À la carte or set menu. Reservations needed.

Michelin Selected steakhouse for premium imported cuts with Japanese Hitachi Wagyu A5, Australian Sanchoku MB5 but also pork, chicken, seafood and pasta. Wood-fire grill, solid wine list. (We're not big steak people, but the group combo satisfied everyone.)

Italian chef Alessio cooks clearly Italian food with a subtle Vietnamese twist from local ingredients (Ly Son garlic, Ninh Thuan lamb, Khanh Hoa pigeon). Two floors: a green cafe/brunch area downstairs, co-working with a balcony upstairs. We've only had drinks so far: good coffee, though our ginger juice was overpowering (likely a one-off). Food looks good; we'll be back to try it.

One of Da Nang's most-loved healthy spots for years which serve vegan food from its own organic farm in Mang Den, Kon Tum. Even skeptics get won over (try the grilled eggplant salad with hummus + spirulina pita, 108k). We return every trip and always leave full.

Healthy, Mediterranean-leaning brunch from a Spanish owner, with more interesting combos than the usual (the potato spaghetti is worth it). Relaxed and casual, outdoor area for smokers, mostly Western digital-nomad crowd.

A brunch spot in a quiet residential street, with fewer tourists and a relaxed space split into small green corners. The beetroot salad (110k) and the beef and cheese ravioli (170k) were delicious; the polenta was a bit sweet for us. Buy-1-get-1 happy hour on wine, cocktails and beer, 4–7pm daily.

Beach club at Premier Village (Accor). A ~350k/person minimum spend gets you the pool, private beach, towels and changing rooms even without a room with best value if you stay the whole day. Food & drink are 5-star priced for average quality, and weekends are crowded with priority to hotel guests.

Our favourite Da Nang rooftop after trying plenty. Central My Khe location, good views, professional service, and an excellent happy hour: buy-1-get-1 from 5–7pm daily that also covers non-alcoholic drinks (rare). Indoor window tables too.

Clear effort on the menu with lots of Vietnamese ingredients, but the two signatures we tried played it safe and weren't memorable. Reasonable at 180–250k/drink.

Our favourite Da Nang cocktail bar for design and atmosphere. Their strength is "Sour" cocktails with sweet-tangy fruit. Of the two signatures we tried, "Mít You" (spiced rum, D.O.M, jackfruit, coffee, passion fruit — 179k) was the more memorable.

One of Da Nang's oldest, best-known cocktail bars, recently redone in "hidden bar" style. Our latest visit was a step down (unbalanced "Dill or No Dill", rough DJ set, less cozy). Better on event nights: Strictly Vinyl (Wed), Live Jazz (Fri), Hip-hop/R&B (Sat).

One of Da Nang's most popular cocktail bars (Tê = Tequila). Two things stand out: the hidden entrance (we won't spoil it) and the Mỳ Quảng cocktail (200k) with turmeric vodka, green bell pepper and peanuts that taste like Da Nang's signature dish. A must for cocktail lovers.

One of the best-known names in Vietnamese craft beer, with a prime spot in the middle of My Khe (almost a beach bar), with a big 2nd-floor terrace and great views. Broad food + drink menu, not just beer. Happy Hour buy-2-get-1 craft beer Mon–Fri 1–6pm, plus live music/DJ/fire shows some nights. Book or arrive before 5pm for an outdoor seat.

Voted best bar 2025 in the An Thuong backpacker area, and deserved. Serious craft beer list (tap + cans/bottles), wide food and drinks, kitchen open past 11pm. Big two-storey outdoor space, live music several nights, daily happy hour 2–7pm, buy-one-get-one smash burger on Tuesdays.

A Spanish-style wine bar/bistro we tried in March 2026 and really liked. Wide wine-by-glass list, and carefully sourced cheeses and cold cuts with clear origins (including good Vietnamese-made ones). Happy hour 5–7pm daily with buy-one-get-one on selected wines by the glass, plus tastings and live music/DJs some days.

Specialty coffee7
A digital-nomad favorite with an impressive, laptop-friendly space: open design, long tables, even work lamps at some seats. Diverse menu: specialty coffee at various roast levels plus matcha, juices and brunch food (the food itself isn't especially memorable). The roastery also runs lots of workshops, from hobbyist to career-track.

The passion project of local barista Nam, who serves only high-quality coffee on a regularly rotating menu: Ethiopian, Kenyan, Costa Rican, plus carefully chosen Vietnamese Robusta. He'll happily guide you, and there are classics too (Americano, latte, matcha) if you're not a purist. Notably cheaper than XLIII.

A great discovery that seems to have it all: they grow (apparently their own farm) and roast their own coffee, and there's a spacious, shaded backyard garden. Prices stay very reasonable for the quality. Distinctly local menu (cà phê muối, cà phê phin, strong Robusta focus), plus imported beans (Ethiopia and others) if you prefer.

A serious farm-to-cup specialty roaster: full bean traceability, roasted in-house, each cup served with a note on its origin and even the price paid to the producer, plus a knowledgeable team. Not the place for a quick cheap coffee: the cheapest cup is 110k+, probably the most we've paid for coffee in Vietnam. Our one gripe: no Vietnamese beans on the menu when we visited. (Also in HCMC, Hoi An and now Hanoi).

Proof that the other side of the river has serious coffee too. Two floors with different areas and a cute balcony, good for working or catching up. Extensive menu sorted by roast level, strong on Ethiopia/Kenya/Colombia but also Vietnamese Arabica, Robusta and even Liberica. Not a secret anymore with plenty of digital nomads and expats.
