The Hanoi food scene has been changing at an incredible speed, mirroring the city’s changes. This article is a collection of short reviews of places we have tried this year.
- All places mentioned here are also listed on our Hanoi food map.
- We are reviewing places visited independently and paid for all our meals. If it’s not the case, this will be explicitly mentioned and places won’t be attributed a rating.

Samé bistrot & wine
Good 😋
🗓 Visited on January 2026
Hanoi has recently seen an explosion of new wine bars. Many of them let you drink by the street with just a few snacks, and have been nicknamed “Vin Hơi”, a direct reference to the traditional Bia Hơi culture.
Samé is more in the upscale bistrot category than your typical Vin Hơi spot. The wine list is solid, and the food menu is even better. The kitchen is led by Chef Hiếu, who founded Déglacer in Long Biên. He has a strong French culinary background and brings Mediterranean food to a bistrot setting here.

We keep from our visit a very strong impression of a few dishes:
- The grilled octopus served with Ajo Blanco, a white gazpacho I had never tried before.
- The Galician presa, a Spanish pork shoulder cut.
The other dishes and the wines were also more than satisfying. We will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu.
A great upscale wine bistrot experience with great food.
