With a growing community of both tourists and long-term expats, it’s no surprise that Da Nang is home to a wide range of quality international restaurants.
We’ve stayed in Da Nang several times, and this most recent stay in March 2025 was our longest. It gave us the chance to revisit a few places we already liked and also to try some new ones.
From budget-friendly spots to the only Michelin-starred French restaurant in all of Vietnam, we really felt that the city had something for every taste and budget.
What follows are our honest and independent takes on each of them.
This article is part of a series covering Da Nang’s food scene:

1. Upscale Western Restaurants
Si Dining
Born after Covid-19 in 2022, Si Dining is currently one of the most highly rated European restaurants in Da Nang. Although the restaurant is quite young, the name of Italian chef Alessio is no stranger to people familiar with the Da Nang food scene.
I learned while preparing this article that he was behind El Peck, another Italian restaurant that we used to love in Da Nang (now closed).

We went to Si Dining with high expectations, given its strong reputation and price tag. Luckily, it did not disappoint.
- The food is clearly Italian, but each dish shows that the chef has spent a long time in Vietnam and genuinely appreciates the local cuisine. Italian cooking tends to be simple, especially compared to French cuisine. It usually relies on just a few fresh, high-quality ingredients. At Si Dining, those are thoughtfully chosen from local sources like shrimp paste, Ly Son garlic, Ninh Thuan lamb, Khanh Hoa pigeon, and of course, fresh herbs. This adds a subtle Vietnamese twist to the familiar Italian flavors.
- Si Dining is located near the Han River. The space is airy, with plenty of plants and trees that help keep it cool and refreshing. Since it’s outside the tourist center, it’s also quiet and peaceful, making it a great place to relax.
- For foreigners who often complain about service in Vietnam, I’d suggest giving Si Dining a try. On the day we visited, the team was excellent in every aspect. We were offered several complimentary dishes and each course came with a thoughtful explanation. The Chef himself even came out to greet guests. One detail that really stood out: when they learned we’d be sharing our food, the staff proactively split each dish into two separate portions which is a rare and thoughtful touch.

- The menu at Si Dining changes regularly, sometimes even daily. If you order à la carte like we did, expect to spend around 1 million VND per person. Set menus are also available with two options priced at 1,250k or 2,450k per person (wine pairing available). Just keep in mind, this style of dining is meant for a slow, enjoyable evening, so it’s best to come when you’re not in a rush.
With the quality on offer, it’s no surprise that Si Dining has been recognized by the Michelin Guide and included in the Selected category. We visited on a weekday, outside of peak season, and the restaurant was still nearly full (they only open in the evening). So, don’t forget to book a table in advance.

Cucina Luca
Cucina Luca just reopened after Tet 2025. The restaurant first launched a few years back but had to shut down during Covid-19. Now it’s back under the same talented Italian chef, Luca.
We discovered this place through an Italian friend who’s been living in Da Nang for years. He recommended it during our recent trip, and we can see why locals who appreciate authentic Italian cuisine have grown so fond of it.

Unlike Si Dining, which goes for a more upscale approach, Cucina Luca offers a more simple experience. The menu is short and authentically Italian with antipasti, handmade pasta, and a few main courses. The Chef puts real care into each dish using fresh, quality ingredients. The prices are very reasonable too – under 700k for two people (not including alcohol).
We had such a great first impression that we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.

AJO Italian Trattoria
Another “authentically Italian” spot that the Italian community in Da Nang loves is AJO Italian Trattoria. It’s a small, casual restaurant serving specialties from Sardinia, which is the chef’s home region. The food itself is good, but when we went with a larger group on the weekend, the main dishes came out really slowly. You’re better off going on a weekday if you’re interested in trying it.

Le Comptoir
This is a must-visit spot for anyone who loves French cuisine. We went here on our last trip, and both Huong and I were sincerely impressed by both the quality and sophistication of the cuisine.
Chef Olivier Corti comes from Lyon, the city known as the “world’s culinary capital.” His monthly changing menu goes beyond traditional French dishes and includes creative twists, paired with an excellent wine selection carefully chosen by his Italian sommelier (who is also co-founder).

Similar to Si Dining, at Le Comptoir you can order a-la-carte or choose the set menu (priced from 2 to 2.4 million VND per person, wine pairing not included). Since being featured on the Michelin Selected list, we’ve noticed the restaurant gets much busier. You’ll need to make reservations if you want to visit.

The Gypsy
Besides Le Comptoir, Olivier also runs a newer project in Da Nang called The Gypsy. Located on the rooftop of the 4-star New Orient Hotel, this restaurant and rooftop bar offers beautiful Han River views and specializes in modern Mediterranean cuisine. It has a more vibrant, youthful vibe than Le Comptoir, with slighlty more affordable prices too.

Besides the food menu with a-la-carte options or set menus (from 1.1 to 1.5 million VND per person), they also have a carefully crafted drinks menu that includes wines selected by a French sommelier, plus signature cocktails from Da Nang’s top bartenders.
The Gypsy has both outdoor and indoor spaces and a higher rooftop level for private parties and events during peak season.

Olivia’s Prime Steakhouse
If you’re looking for a restaurant specializing in premium imported steaks, this Michelin Selected spot delivers quality you can trust.
Wood fire grill, solid wine list, etc. The place ticks all the boxes of what you’d expect from an upscale steakhouse.
Besides top-quality beef like Japanese Hitachi Wagyu A5 and Australian Sanchoku MB5, Olivia’s Prime also serves other grilled options like pork, chicken, and seafood, plus some additional dishes like pasta.

Disclaimer : I should mention upfront that I’m not a steakhouse expert. I eat less and less meat these days and only visit places like this maybe once a year for special occasions. That said, when I went with friends and we ordered one of their combos, everyone was satisfied with what we were served.

Sunday Buffet – KS Intercontinental
We’re not usually buffet fans, but this time we happened to try the Sunday lunch buffet at Citron restaurant in the Intercontinental Hotel when gathering with some friends who really love this place.

The Intercontinental is currently the only luxury hotel in Da Nang with its own private beach and is best known for La Maison 1888, Vietnam’s only Michelin-starred French restaurant. Besides that, Citron is another popular restaurant here thanks to its beautiful views and its special Sunday Buffet.
The buffet runs every Sunday from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. With prices from 2.6 million VND++ (excluding alcoholic drinks) to 4 million VND++ per adult (free flow wine, champagne for non-hotel guests), you’ll naturally have premium options from imported beef steaks to lobster and foie gras.
But for me, the most attractive part of this buffet package is that it includes access to the hotel’s stunning pool and private beach that you can only reach by cable car since the hotel sits on a mountain. This way, you can spend the whole day relaxing, having lunch, and enjoying the beach here. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible on the day we visited 🙁 .

Another plus for Citron is the outdoor tables with beautiful ocean and mountain views (called “Nón Lá”). These tables are always fully booked during peak season. You might need to reserve a week ahead

2. Comfort food restaurants (best burgers, pizzas, etc.)
Next are the casual Western comfort food spots we enjoyed, serving dishes like burgers, pizza, and American-style grilled ribs. This shouldn’t be your priority, especially if you’re only visiting Vietnam. You really should concentrate on the incredible local food.
That said, let’s be honest, everyone gets burger cravings sometimes. I’m guilty of this as well. I even published my Street Food Guide in Hanoi long after My Best Burgers in Hanoi article.
Poomba’s Smokehouse American Barbecue
Anyone who’s tried American-style grilled ribs can clearly taste the difference from regular rib joints. Their secret is in the slow smoking process and charcoal grilling, which creates tender, flavorful meat with that distinctive smoky aroma. Paired with BBQ sauce, it’s perfect.

Poomba’s is exactly that kind of place – their smoked pork ribs are a must-try! We ate at the original location on Tran Van Du, but they also have another branch in a more central spot in the An Thuong “expat” area.

Bikini Bottom Express
With 2 busy branches in Da Nang and 1 in Hoi An, this is one of the most popular American restaurants around. Their menu has all the familiar dishes of a typical “American diner” like burgers, sandwiches, and all-day breakfast, plus a few creative dishes.

They also have plenty of drink options going from milkshakes, fresh juices, and kombucha to interesting fusion cocktails priced at just 90k VND (with buy 2 get 1 free happy hour from 5-7 PM daily). No surprise the atmosphere here is always lively.

Additional Choices
- Gordon’s New York Pizza (2 branches): This place serves large New York-style pizza with thin, crispy crust. We found it solid without being extraordinary. A good point is that you can order by the slice. We don’t recommend the cinnamon bites, which were disappointing.
- Roadhouse: This famous burger joint in the expat area left us with conflicting impressions. The burgers aren’t anything special but are reasonably priced (~120k VND). The pizza (~200k VND) is good though, with homemade sourdough crust and quality ingredients.

3. Vegetarian restaurants / healthy brunch
We love having light brunches when traveling, especially vegetarian ones. They’re delicious and good for your health, which means they can compensate for the excessive eating in the evenings (or we hope so).
The vegetarian and brunch restaurants listed below are all very popular with the growing digital nomad community in Da Nang. Besides healthy food and reasonable prices, these places also have comfortable spaces perfect for group meetings or laptop work. During peak lunch hours, they all get very busy, so arrive early if you don’t want to wait too long.
Roots Plant-based Cafe

Many people feel hesitant when they hear “vegetarian” or “vegan” because they think it won’t taste good or be filling enough. Roots might just change their minds.
It’s no accident that this vegan restaurant with its own organic farm in Mang Den, Kon Tum has been one of Da Nang’s most beloved healthy dining spots for years. We return here on every trip and always leave happy ( and full!).

Danasol – Eatery & Cafe & Workspace
This place has 2 floors: The first floor is a cafe/brunch area with a cool, green outdoor space, while the second floor is for co-working with a lovely balcony.

We have only tried drinks here so far. The coffee was good, but the Migraine Reliever juice (kale, pineapple, cucumber, lime, ginger) had WAY TOO MUCH ginger! This might have been a one-off mistake by the staff since the place was busy. We plan to return on our next trip to try their food, which looks quite good.

Six on Six Cafe – Brunch & Restaurant

Located in a quiet residential area , this place has fewer tourists than the two spots above. The atmosphere is quite relaxed with a spacious area divided into several small, green spaces.
For food, the beetroot salad (110k VND) and beef and cheese ravioli (170k VND) were delicious, but the Italian corn polenta (180k VND) was a bit too sweet for our taste. The restaurant has a buy 1 get 1 free happy hour for wine, cocktails, and beer from 4-7 PM daily.

The Hideout Cafe

With 2 branches near the expat area, this is another popular spot with quite good food and reasonable prices. We ordered a Vegan combo with tofu scramble + juice (109k VND) and a special poké bowl (154k VND), and both were satisfying. The downside is that the space is a bit smaller than the places mentioned above.

Additional suggestions:
- Kurumi – Healthy Vegan Food & Desserts (175 Ba Huyen Thanh Quan): Another very popular vegan restaurant south of My Khe Beach. They opened a new Hoi An branch in late 2024.
- Le Bordeaux Bakery (18 My Da Dong 12): French bakery with various savory and sweet pastries that we ordered through Grab. The ciabatta sandwich is delicious, and the canelé is too.
