Where to find the best pizzas in Hanoi?
As I write this article, I will say first that there are plenty of options for good pizzas in Hanoi.
Pizza is globally one of the most popular Western food, and in Hanoi it is no exception. I would even say that over the past decade the local “pizza scene” has experienced continuous expansion.
This means a couple of things:
- For one, we haven’t tried all pizza restaurants in Hanoi. If you don’t see one of your favorites on our list, it’s likely we just haven’t gotten around to trying it yet, not that we dismissed it. Please feel free to provide your recommendations.
- Additionally, as you’d expect for a globally popular dish, pizza comes in many styles and varieties. Our list does not aim to identify the most “authentic” pizza in Hanoi, whatever that means. Rather, we want to showcase spots around the city that offer their own personal take on this iconic food.
1. Pizza Belga

Belgium is not exactly renowned globally for its pizza. Hanoi, however, may be an exception.
The reason why?
In 2018, a Belgian native and his Vietnamese wife founded Pizza Belga here. Their concept was simple: serve great Neapolitan pizzas alongside Belgian beers.
Six years later, it’s safe to say they’ve executed this vision flawlessly:
- If you ask any local where to find the best wood-fired, Neapolitan-style pizza in Hanoi, Pizza Belga will always rank among the top recommendations. We wholeheartedly agree with this assessment.
- They now operate 2 locations in Hanoi, with plans to launch a 3rd in Ho Chi Minh City by the end of 2023.
Bonus: One delicious offering that often flies under the radar, even among foodies, is their lunchtime Panuozzo – commonly dubbed the love child of pizza and sandwich. We also highly recommend it.

As a beer enthusiast, I of course also appreciate Belga’s lineup of Belgian beers, now complemented by a small selection of local craft beers.

We Like:
- Maybe the best traditional Napolitan-style pizza you’ll find in Hanoi? Other dishes are great too.
- An ideally located branch in the Old Quarter.
- A great selection of Belgium beers (plus some local craft beers…)

2. Sol Pizza

Another pizzeria we have closely followed from their early days in the Yen Phu area is Sol Pizza. Though now situated in a more spacious venue at Tô Ngọc Vân, Sol Pizza preserves its signature style.

Distinguishing features of Sol’s pizzas are a slimmer and crispier crust complemented by quality ingredients. Their simplicity compared to competitors also stands out, with a menu listing merely 5 pizza options (albeit with abundant customizations).
We especially enjoy their white pizzas.
They’ve also recently introduced two lunch specials worth trying:
- Sicilian-style square pizza – thick (really thick!) crunchy, airy crust
- House-made sandwiches on crispy, thin focaccia bread

We Like:
- A focus on simplicity and quality
- Good lunch specials

3. Cugini Ristorante Italiano

Opened over 6 years ago through a partnership between the Cousins’ restaurant owner and an Italian chef, Cugini strives to be recognized for more than just its pizzas.
Their menu includes fresh pasta, Italian tapas, regularly changing chef’s specials, and an extensive wine list.
However, Cugini’s pizzas warrant equal attention. Using high-quality ingredients for toppings, they have also achieved an ideal balance with a thin, slightly chewy crust that avoids becoming soggy or overly soft.
With 8 pizzas available, Cugini offers options to satisfy most tastes and preferences.

We like:
- Great Italian food overall including pizzas in a cozy setting.

4. NYC Pizza Hanoi

Cravings for pizza after a long day take different forms for everyone. For those who picture a New York-style slice in that moment, NYC Pizza is likely your spot.
NYC Pizza was started by an American-Vietnamese couple who returned from their New York honeymoon realizing Hanoi lacked a quality pizza-by-the-slice joint.
It took some time for the owners to perfect their New York-style pizza recipe. They also faced COVID-19 struggles, forcing them to relocate their original restaurant.
However, now with three existing locations—it’s clear this American-Vietnamese couple has ultimately made their pizza-by-the-slice concept a success story in Hanoi.
We personally appreciate that they’ve stayed true to their original vision – a menu of classic slice options like Pepperoni, Hawaiian, or BBQ Chicken to take away or enjoy in a casual setting.
Those with bigger appetites can also order a whole 18-inch (about 45cm) pie.

We like:
- True New York Style Pizzas by slice.
- A concept well-executed from the beginning to the end.

5. Pizza 4P’s

Can a restaurant with dozens of branches in Vietnam and recent expansion into Cambodia and Japan earn a spot on this list?
We debated but settled on “yes” fairly quickly.
We first discovered 4P’S over 10 years ago when they had just one location down a small Lê Thánh Tôn alley in Ho Chi Minh City. Co-founder Yosuke Masuko himself hustled behind their sole pizza oven.
In the years since, we’ve tried numerous 4P’s locations in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and even Danang as the chain rapidly grew.
So why still recommend 4P’s amidst their evolution from an artisanal restaurant to literally an empire worth millions of dollars?
A few reasons:
- Despite exponential growth, they’ve maintained relatively consistent quality in both food and service – an incredible achievement in Vietnam.
- Some fusion pizzas are unique creations unavailable elsewhere – we love the Pizza Sashimi for instance.
- Though now a large chain, they’ve retained a distinctive identity – producing some cheeses in-house, sourcing local ingredients, and pursuing sustainability efforts.
Another recommendation: Don’t overlook non-pizza menu items. We’ve often been pleasantly surprised by the originality of their seasonal specials.

We like:
- A distinctive and unique style of pizzas.
- With approximately 10 branches in Hanoi, Pizza 4P’s is for a lot of habitants of the capital the best choice for a pizza near where they stay. Yes, it may shock a lot of expats but not everybody is living in Tay Ho area.

6. La Bodega

La Bodega may fly under the radar because of its location across the Red River in the Long Biên district.
This French-owned restaurant features a large outdoor space making it a fitting venue for live music events and families with kids.
But let’s cut to the chase on pizza…
We’ll admit that initially we came just for the outdoor ambiance. Yet the wood-fired pizzas keep bringing us back. Across multiple visits, they’ve never disappointed.
La Bodega’s menu boasts an extensive pizza selection with over a dozen options. You will find all the classics (like Calzone) along with some French-inspired specials like the Provençale that uses ratatouille instead of tomato sauce for instance.
The only downside of the place is it can be hard to find (but Google Maps can perfectly assist you) and that service can be a bit chaotic when they host events during sunny days.

We like:
- Great outdoor setting
- Good option if you are living in Long Biên area

7. Pizza Bella

We only recently discovered this relatively new pizzeria located in the center of Truc Bach, thanks to our followers.
Pizza Bella is a very modest establishment with limited seating, comprised mainly of small tables situated streetside. However, do not allow appearances to fool you – the pizzas are good. We found their Neapolitan-style pizzas on par with a lot of places mentioned in this article.
In particular, the owners have mastered the pizza dough preparation. Just don’t anticipate finding these high-quality pizzas at a discounted rate: all of their large pies are priced in the 200-300k range, except on Tuesdays when a special promotion applies (50% off).

We like:
- Very good Neapolitan-style pizzas

8. Luna d’Autunno

This is a place I remember going to when I needed a good pizza 15 years ago when there were not as many options in Hanoi.
The restaurant was even founded a few years before that, in 1999 to be exact. So it’s not an overstatement to say that this place has stood the test of time.
We recently decided to return and were happy to see that the quality has remained consistent. Seeing their recent positive reviews, we are not the only ones sharing this opinion.
I would not say that they are as good as the top recommendations in this article, but they’re definitely a solid option for people looking for a “classic pizza” in the city center.
The service was also notably welcoming, and they have a cute balcony overlooking Nam Ngư Street.

We like:
- Classic pizzas done well
- Located in the city center
Practical Info:
Address: 27 P. Nam Ngư, Cửa Nam, Hoàn Kiếm

Honorable mentions
7 Bridges Brewing Co.
7 Bridges is of course more famous for their craft beers but they also have extensive food options. Their massive 50-centimeter Carbonara pizza was one of my guilty pleasures. Sadly they recently renovated and refreshed their menu – and this pizza became an unfortunate casualty.

You can still order a variety of pizzas by the slice that perfectly complement one of their craft beers.
DragonCELLO

This restaurant ranks among the best Italian restaurants in Hanoi for us. They make good pizzas using quality ingredients for toppings, but if you dine here, we highly recommend focusing your attention on the rest of their menu which features plenty of stellar Italian specials beyond pizza. You can read our full review of Dragoncello here. It’s not always the time for pizza, even if this article may make you think otherwise.
Please keep in mind that this list is a personal selection. We did not try all the places in Hanoi with pizzas on the menu. Feel free to suggest additional entries.
